This matters to me because...

As a native Charlottean and disabled person, I've never had a community where I felt like I was seen and felt a sense of belonging. 

Access CLT is important to my personal mission because it not only creates that space, but it allows other community leaders to be educated on how to create inclusive and safe spaces for disabled people.

Disability is invisible which means we constantly perpetuate inaccessibility even without knowing or intending to. 

Particularly as someone working in tech, I know that unless and until disability is part of the natural conversation, we will continue to have severely inaccessible yet highly critical technology and services.

Access CLT provides an inclusive and safe spaces for people with disabilities to congregate and socialize. This is important to me to feel comfortable in my city with others with lived experience similar to mine.

Community and culture help shape our understanding of the world around us and play an important role in social change. 

I believe that Charlotte has the opportunity to create change by becoming a more inclusive and accessible city for disabled people. At Access CLT, we are rewriting communal narratives through shared knowledge and stories.
